MY PHILOSOPHY

Philosophy

Life is an abstract.

As an artist I like to take a glimpse of everyday life and hone in on it. How does this moment make us feel? The clouds gathering from a storm and the sun breaking through-- how do you capture that glow and hang on to it? Through art.

A painting can recapture that moment, that feeling of longing, or not belonging, the joy of watching a bird rest in flight, or the comfort of chickens pecking in the yard. I capture a mood or an abstract from everyday life which will transport us to a time outside of our day-to-day. If my art can give someone a moment of beauty, or belonging, or joy -- I have succeeded.

About Me

Art that colors your life.

I fell in love with handbuilding clay sculpture, drawing and oil painting while studying studio art at Sonoma State University. After years of working in the nonprofit world in communications and project management, I have now turned to art full-time. Using primarily acrylics now, I paint in the sun room (more often a rain room), which has been transformed into an art studio. Drawing inspiration from nature, I enjoy getting outdoors as much as possible either on hikes or dreaming of my next beach exploration.

Born in Laguna Beach, California, and I have had the opportunity to live in some beautiful locations in California (Santa Barbara, Sonoma & Humboldt counties) and around the world (Costa Rica and Spain). I currently live above a forested hill in Portland, Oregon, surrounded by windows that let in the light even on the most stormy of days.

Influences: Matisse, Van Gogh, Kokoschka -- expressionistic storytelling.
